Unlock Excel sheets with Password

21, August, 2009

One of the features of Microsoft Excel is to block the publishing and access to formulas contained in a cell or a set of cells. I searched the internet for a way to change the so-called leaf protected, there are many alternatives but all paid.

I remembered to open the document with OpenOffice, and when I tried to access the protected cells received an error message "Can not change protected cells."

And to my surprise when I sent unprotect the document OpenOffice did not ask me any password nor gave a message and the document was left unprotected, leaving all the unlocked cells, with the formulas set.

Just go to "Tools" --> “Proteger Documento” –> and get the stamp of "Leaf ..." and just to break the security of Microsoft Excel file I tested was the version of Office 2003.
